Gordon's Bay has a blue flag beach! Called "Bikini Beach", it is situated to the south of the harbour, which is generally popular, particularly with students from the Universities of Cape Town and Stellenbosch. The beach is funded by the City of Cape Town to properly maintain facilities that include a grassy promenade. The beach is considered safe and is regularly patrolled by a seasonal security guard.
Gordons Bay is a dock town in the Helderberg region, with a unique mountain featuring the initials "GB" on each side, a blue flag beach and a wide selection of attractions for a memorable stay along the coast.
The town features a waterfront, with a bay set against the Helderberg mountains, meaning a sheltered and alluring cove with a promenade consisting of restaurants, fish shops, coffee bars, as well as a wealth of water-based activities. One of the main attractions of Gordon's Bay is Bikini, which enjoys Blue Flag status, a popular spot for volleyball, surfing and sunbathing. There is additionally the main beach, with the gentler waters coming from the Atlantic Ocean, ideal for the whole family.
Additional activities include the Helderberg wine route, with 25 different estates, whale watching, with vantage points between Gordons Bay and Betty's Bay and at Steenbras dam, sunset cruises from the harbour and so much more. Gordon's Bay is about a 40-minute drive from the Cape Town City Centre.

What a fantastic find The photos really don't do it justice. We were so pleasantly surprised to discover a beautiful sea view from both the living room and the balcony. The apartment was spotless, and the kitchen was thoughtfully stocked with all the necessary utensils and cutlery, making our stay feel like a home away from home. The host was incredibly responsive. There are also nice restaurants nearby. The braai area was a huge plus, and having access to the pool right there was just as lovely as the pictures showed. It’s a true gem of a place, perfect for a relaxing getaway. We had a wonderful time and would highly recommend it to anyone! (Lance Oct 2025)
